The intimacy I desire with you is acquired through the sacrifice of your time.
The following is an example of what I mean. You meet with a group of people every week. During this time conversations reveal personalities, moods, etc, but the relationships do not grow beyond a certain point. One day, you find yourself in the hallway with one of the group standing next to you. Each of you pass back and forth small talk for a minute or two. Another day, you are waiting outside for the valet to bring your car around and this same person is waiting also. For ten minutes, you have a conversation…..a little more personal. Still another day, you are shopping in the mall and run into this individual. After a brief encounter, you say, “Have you had lunch yet? ” She says, “No, lets have lunch together. ” During this time, you learn more about each other. You and you ew friend decide to begin walking together each day. First you spend ten minutes walking together daily, then twenty-five, then forty-five, and later one hour or more depending on your schedules. During this time, you both bond, learn to understand each other, learn to trust each other, begin to depend on each other for support and encouragement, etc. Now, when you go back to the group meeting, who will you have a more intimate relationship with? Who do you feel a kinship with? Who’s voice would you recognize first? There is NO DIFFERENCE in this example when it comes to an intimate relationship with Me. If you spend ten minutes with Me daily, our relationship will be stronger because of the one on one time spent together. The more time you spend, as your schedule allows and the Holy Spirit inspires, the more intimately you will KNOW Me. You will KNOW My Voice in your heart and recognize the guidance and promptings of the Holy Spirit all during your daily life with its ups and downs. Life becomes worthwhile…..peacefully productive and less fearful.
