The events at the BAPTISM of JESUS present one of the Bible’s clearest pictures of the TRINITY, with the entire God-head PRESENT. JESUS, the SON of GOD, stood in the Jordan River, identifying Himself with sinful mankind. The FATHER spoke from HEAVEN, affirming the Son. And the SPIRIT of GOD descended from HEAVEN in the form of a dove, anointing the Son for His coming ministry. (Luke 3: 21-22)
It was the Power of the HOLY SPIRIT that Christ was raised from the dead. “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through the Holy Spirit who dwells in you” (Rom 8:11). Not only did the HOLY SPIRIT raise Christ, He is the ONE who will also raise you.
Everything Jesus the man did, He did under the AUTHORITY and DIRECTION of the FATHER and with the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT. Jesus–man, needed SUPERNATURAL POWER to do His great work. GOD GAVE HIM the HOLY SPIRIT to EMPOWER Him to FULFILL the GREAT COMMISION. His HUMANITY was being ANOINTED and that NEEDED the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT. The whole life of Jesus FROM HIS BAPTISM is lived in the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT and that is when HIS MIRACLES STARTED.
Christ was under God’s control as He spoke what the FATHER SAID to the HOLY SPIRIT. A Born Again Christian has been given the Gift of the Power of the Holy Spirit to know God’s Will as He directs us through life. Living in disobedience to the Father’s Call will result in the Holy Spirit’s Voice becoming more and more faint. We must just BE WILLING AND DESIRE the Father’s Will, in Jesus’ name, ABOVE OURS TO HEAR HIM CLEARLY.
Even strength facing death came from the Holy Spirit. Before He was taken to Heaven, He gave His apostles instructions in the upper room FROM the FATHER through the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT. The Holy Spirit’s role is always TO GLORIFY CHRIST. “Praise God from whom all blessings flow…Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
Three person’s equal to each other in Sovereign Supreme Authority. There is absolute equality in the Trinity!
