(The reason David was able to defeat Galiath is because he KNEW His Lord. Because of his time alone with the God of Israel while keeping his father’s sheep free from the danger of lions and bears, he got to KNOW Him personally. He experienced time and again how his Lord showed favor giving him strength and wisdom to fight off these dangers.
(David talked with his Lord out there. He relied on Him to protect him. He got to KNOW that he could COUNT ON the God of Israel completely and he spent time reverencing Him. He grew closer and closer to Him and began to desire more and more of His Love and company. The result is evident in David’s reaction to Goliath’s threats against His close, faithful, loving, merciful God of Israel. He KNEW his God well and had experienced His power personally. He had the steadfast conviction of victory because He was defending His most POWERFUL LOVING ALLY. He stood up against Goliath with complete confidence.
(To have this kind of assurance in our Lord, we need to cultivate it just like one must do with another person. Time, interaction, dependence, faithfulness, and trust are established in any relationship through time spent alone together talking. It is the same with our Dear Lord. Give Him yourself in every way each day. Then, when Satan attacks, you will have a tenacious confidence in WHO you are, WHO you serve, and WHO always has your back. You will KNOW the battle is won almost before it begins. This happens because of a daily cultivated partnership with the God of ALL. Thank You Father of Heaven and earth.)
